Afternoon Tea: Poppy's Coffee Shop & Bistro, Fleet

I love searching for new restaurants to enjoy, and I'm thrilled to have found a shining star in Poppy's Coffee Shop & Bistro in Fleet after my recent visit for a beautiful Afternoon Tea!

Located on a small parade of shops nestled in the local town, the coffee shop has a modern yet familiar feel to the decor. Plenty of colourful decals, bright walls and a range of seating options make it great for lots of occasions, alongside a great chalkboard cupboard to keep kids entertained! The staff were extremely welcoming and really made our visit feel special with their attentive and thoughtful service. I can see exactly why they have such regular, loyal customers that still visit after their change of location!

As we booked for Afternoon Tea Week, we were treated to a beautiful glass of local Greyfriars English Sparkling wine on arrival. Produced near the Hog's Back, Guildford, the wine was wonderfully bubbly, with real elegance through it's rich mineral finish. I really love that you can get a fantastic calibre of local English wine by the glass in the Bistro for any of your visits, and that they even serve them in the branded perfect glassware.

Whilst enjoying our bubbles, the amazing Afternoon Tea platter arrived and I was immediately in love! The slate display board was bursting with sandwiches, scones and vibrant sweet treats that I couldn't wait to get stuck into as they looked absolutely fantastic!

There were four sandwiches fingers each, in classic flavour combinations; coronation chicken, ham and tomato, tuna and an egg salad on a mix of white and brown breads. Followed by a still warm mixed fruit scone that was lovely and fluffy, served with clotted cream and individual jam pot. All accompanied by a pot of your tea of choice.

For our sweet items, each of us had four patisserie favorites to sample. A macaron, mini chocolate éclair, chocolate covered and filled profiterole and a baby strawberry mille-feuille! Plus a handful of fresh berries to pick on during the tea!

Poppy's has recently expanded it's offerings to now include a wonderful deli in-store! Packed with wonderful local and specialised products it's a fantastic addition. I will definitely be visiting to pick up some goodies and hamper items! I've also already been back to sample one of their gorgeous Sunday roasts, it's picture perfect and delicious!!!

Nearest Train Station: Fleet, Hampshire (roughly 10 minutes drive). If travelling by car, there is parking available next to the parade.
