Afternoon Tea; Wellington Farm Shop

There’s something special about afternoon tea in a farm shop café. You know the produce is going to be fresh, the flavours vibrant, and the whole thing just a little bit indulgent. Wellington Farm Shop absolutely delivered on this to make a wonderful, cosy afternoon.

From the moment our stand arrived at the table, it was clear this was going to be a fab afternoon tea. We were treated to five savouries each, including a slice of their famous Wellington sausage roll. Golden, flaky, and generously filled with a proper sausage, it was the kind of sausage roll that sets the bar for others. Alongside it came a selection of freshly made sandwiches, packed to the brim with filling: chicken and bacon, creamy egg mayo, cheese and onion, and a trout with cream cheese that felt like a real treat. Everything tasted so fresh, exactly what you’d expect from a farm shop that prides itself on quality produce.

Then came the scones — one each, served with jam and a generous dollop of silky clotted cream. Fluffy, warm, and just the right size, they ticked every box for a classic cream tea moment.

The sweet tier changes often, which makes it feel even more exciting. On our visit we enjoyed a rich triple chocolate ganache tart, a decadent sticky toffee cheesecake, and a slice of Victoria sponge that was everything a classic cake should be: light, fluffy, and just sweet enough. Three desserts each felt more than generous, and every bite was as good as the last.

What really stood out, beyond the food, was the warm, friendly service. Every member of staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole experience had that cosy, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

To wash it all down, we had unlimited hot drinks and even a soft drink each, which felt like a thoughtful extra touch. Look how pretty the chai latte and mocha were!

Wellington Farm Shop’s afternoon tea is the perfect balance of homely and indulgent: local produce at its best, served with genuine warmth. It’s the kind of place where you want to bring family or friends, sit back, and savour every bite.
