Jazz Sunday Lunch! Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, Windsor
Enjoy a relaxing Sunday lunch with a live Jazz trio at The Sir Christopher Wren Brasserie on the riverside in Windsor.

Situated on the banks of the River Thames, The Brasserie at The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel is a beautiful upscale dining location. Only a short walk from the centre of Windsor and close to Eton bridge it is a fantastic option for all day dining or afternoon tea after a day of exploring the nearby sights.
The hotel has a range of lounges and dining areas that make it ideal for a huge variety of occasions. I loved one of the cosy lounges that would be perfect for pre-dinner drinks, afternoon tea or reading with a fresh cup of tea in front of the open fire in the Winter!

The large courtyard area with stunning river views that would be ideal in summer and a small more private area which had a beautiful, coloured glass light feature!

Sunday lunch at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel is elevated by the addition of a local live jazz trio alongside a lovely Sunday lunch menu. You can even make the Sunday lunch 'bottomless' by adding unlimited bubbles for 2 hours (between 1-4pm) at a very reasonable price of only £15 per person.
As we were a large private group, we started with a small appetiser of chicken and pork terrine & blistered cherry tomato on toast that was part of the pre-ordered package. This was a miniature version of one of the starters and I would definitely order this if I came back again. Other starters included prawn & crayfish cocktail, red onion marmalade & goat's cheese tart and soup of the day. The warm bread rolls (wholemeal & white) also came with unique mustard butter or curry butter - I may need to try making more flavoured butters at home now!

The Sunday lunch is presented as a bountiful buffet, with more choices than you could hope for! The meats and plates on offer do change regularly. On the day I visited the two roast joints were a succulent turkey breast and a delicious medium rare sirloin of beef, which is what I very quickly decided on. There was also a fish option (herb crusted salmon), pork steak and a couscous stuffed pepper as the vegetarian main option.

All the trimmings were available including Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, potato gratin, honey glazed parsnips, carrots, braised red cabbage, buttered broccoli and a selection of accompanying sauces.

Desserts are ordered from a menu and I couldn't resist my all time favourite pudding, apple pie! This delicious version was served with a caramel sauce and a little tuille basket contained some vanilla ice-cream. They also served a classic berry 'Eton mess', I mean how could they not when they are so close to Eton itself! However it was a little overloaded with cream and needed a bit more meringue for my taste.

The overall lunch was lovely and the perfect way place for a family Sunday lunch out in a wonderful setting & fabulous location for exploring Windsor & Eton before or after the meal.
