Part of the McMullen’s family since 2010, The Heron has built a reputation as a welcoming spot for families, friends and casual celebrations. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly and also offers a private hire area for larger occasions.

The Food
The menu offers a mix of classic British favourites and more creative seasonally inspired dishes, making it a great choice for groups where everyone is looking for something different.
For mains, the chicken supreme with chermoula spiced pesto potatoes and heritage tomatoes was a delightfully light summer dish to enjoy.
The chicken Milanese was a generous portion and a great example of a reliable staple dish done well.

The chicken, mushroom and truffle pie delivered the ultimate comfort food experience, served with creamy mash and seasonal summer vegetables. Rich, hearty and full of flavour, a dish that feels naughty in summer/
The fish and chips was another classic choice and was executed well, with a generous portion and all the elements you’d expect from a favourite British staple.

Desserts at The Heron were a highlight and worth saving space for, with some creative twists on familiar favourites.
The apple cobbler combined warm, comforting fruit flavours with salted caramel, popcorn and clotted cream ice cream — an indulgent combination that was both nostalgic and fun.
The cinnamon bun cheesecake brought together two much-loved desserts in one, while the berry crème brûlée offered something lighter with a fresh fruit element balancing the creamy custard.

The Heron on the Lake is a Fleet favourite, and it’s easy to understand why. The combination of good food, friendly service and a beautiful lakeside setting makes it a brilliant choice for relaxed lunches, family meals and summer dining.
While the menu has plenty of classic favourites, the setting is what really makes this restaurant stand out. Sitting outside overlooking the lake feels like a little getaway without having to travel far.
